Vorläufiges Konzept zur Entwicklung eines detaillierten Call for Paper für den geplanten FEWD-Workshop:
Italien und Animal Advocacy, eine multi- und interdisziplinäre Topographie der modernen Tierschutzbewegung. Mit besonderer Berücksichtigung öffentlicher Diskurse.
Neben einem internationalen, sprich englischsprachigen Publikationsfokus soll insbesondere auch ein deutsch- und natürlich italienischsprachiger Publikationsfokus angestrebt werden. Im Zentrum des vorliegenden Projektes stehen einerseits Forschungen mit den methodischen Instrumentarien von sozialwissenschaftlichen Fächern. Grundlegend hierzu die einschlägigen soziologischen europäischen und internationalen Fachgesellschaften mit speziellen Forschungsbereichen zu sozialen Bewegungen. Referenzpunkte bilden das European Sociological Association Research Network Social Movements und The International Sociological Association with Research Committee 47 Social Classes and Social Movements / and Research Committee 48 Social Movements, Collective Action and Social Change. Zur konkreten Tierschutzthematik noch relevanter bilden natürlich die American Sociological Association mit der Animal and Society Section und die British Sociological Association mit der Animal / Human Studies Group (AHSG) die Forschungsgrundlagen. Weiters für Italien hierbei besonders erwähnenswert für das vorliegende Projekt die pionierhaften Publikationen des Soziologen N. Bertuzzi. Davon sei nur genannt seine Publikation „Contemporary animal advocacy in Italy.“ mit der zentralen These "In spite of the great tradition in social movement studies, Italy completely lacks any contribution regarding animal advocacy from the point of view of political sociology."
Andererseits erfuhr dieses Projekt vielerlei Motivation durch kultur- und geisteswissenschaftliche Ansätze. In aller Kürze hier sei genannt neben den seit den 1970er Jahren bestehenden Diskursen der anglo-amerikanischen (analytischen) Philosophie und (Tier)-Ethik auch die methodischen Erweiterungen der Germanistik. Hier z. B. spontan genannt der Aufsatz „Im Grenzgang. Für eine Germanistik als Schwellenkunde“ publiziert in „Zeitschrift für interkulturelle Germanistik“.
Als strukturelle Inspirationen dienen z. B. die Deutsch-Italienische Kant-Vorlesung in Kooperation mit der Società Italiana di Studi Kantiani https://www.uni-frankfurt.de/72367649/Deutsch_Italienische_Kant_Vorlesung, der internationale Studiengang Deutsch-Italienische Studien bzw. Studi Italo- Tedeschi an den Universitäten Bonn und Florenz,
Und insbesondere die Associazione Italiana di Germanistica, https://www.associazioneitalianagermanistica.it/ Diese ist seit 1998 Teil des bereits 1968 gegründeten Dachverbandes „Internationalen Deutschlehrerinnen- und Deutschlehrerverband e. V.“

Compassion in World Farming, or CIWF https://www.ciwf.it/ – here the Italy section, based in Bologna, is an international organisation dedicated to ending factory farming and radically changing our food systems to reduce reliance on animal protein. Essere Animali https://www.essereanimali.org/ - based in Bologna, are working to put an end to factory farming and promote the transition to a food system that does not include the consumption of animal products. Their mission is to stop any form of exploitation and suffering by asserting animals' rights, promoting the issues and achieving the implementation of new laws.
