Welcome! (draft version!)
The Friends of Animal Advocacy Research in Central and Eastern Europe (FAARCEE) is a developing transnational, multi- and interdisciplinary platform that works in close cooperation with academia, civil society, and major social movements.
The FEWD team will be the academic coordinator of FAARCEE, which works beside the CEE and SEE focus in close cooperation with other European and certainly international partners.
FAARCEE as a project has two historical roots. First, since 2001 the FEWD organizes the Vienna Animal Advocacy Lecture – VAAL, see https://fewd.univie.ac.at/aa/vaal/
Second, the FEWD bioethics and humanism research area works already since this time with focus on the CEE region. Cooperating there with university departments from different fields of research. Often with the ALA - Austria Libraries Abroad. Herby especially worth to mention is that most of the sixty-five ALA are located in the CEE and SEE region. See more at https://fewd.univie.ac.at/humanism/sources/oesterreich-bibliotheken/
One of the FAARCE academic goals may be found at the FEWD area AAOA, the Animal Advocacy Online Anthology; see https://fewd.univie.ac.at/aa/anthology/
We especially would like to motivate early-career researchers to publish animal advocacy research with focus on the CEE and SEE region in open-source journals such as Politics and Animals; or other relevant journals, see https://fewd.univie.ac.at/aa/journals/ A list of maybe helpful important journals addressing general research on CEE and SEE may be found at https://fewd.univie.ac.at/humanism/cee/journals/
On the FEWD animal advocacy country selection page, you already will find important peer-reviewed research publications on animal advocacy; see https://fewd.univie.ac.at/aa/country/selection/.
There are international entries such as Contemporary Animal Advocacy in Italy; The Animal Advocacy Movement in the Baltic States; Animal Welfare in Australia: Politics and Policy; and many more.
A very useful source to find in CEE and SEE relevant research is the database CEEOL, see https://fewd.univie.ac.at/aa/ceeol/ Also useful was osmikon, the leading research gateway to Central, Eastern, and Southeastern Europe, see https://fewd.univie.ac.at/humanism/cee/osmikon/ But till now the FEWD team found definitely more via CEEOL.
Herby to mention is that our research also showed very soon that Poland is in CEE the leading animal advocacy research country, see https://fewd.univie.ac.at/aa/country/poland/bibliography/ Poland is also the publisher of the only CEE animal studies journal, see https://fewd.univie.ac.at/aa/country/poland/zoophilologica/
A other medium term goal is that FAARCEE will award at University of Vienna every year especially relevant publications with support of the Lengauer Rupert und Karoline Foundation – LRKF, see https://fewd.univie.ac.at/lengauer-rupert-and-karoline-foundation/
