Welcome!

The Friends of Animal Advocacy Research in Southeast Europe (FAARSEE) is a transnational, multi- and interdisciplinary platform that works in close cooperation with academia, civil society, and major social movements; our special focus is the (Western) Balkan region.

The Vienna FEWD team is the academic coordinator of FAARSEE, which works in close cooperation with FAARSEE and beyond.

One of our main goals may be found at AAOA, the Animal Advocacy Online Anthology; see https://fewd.univie.ac.at/aa/anthology/

On the FEWD country selection page, you will find important peer-reviewed research publications on animal advocacy; see https://fewd.univie.ac.at/aa/country/selection/.

There you will find entries such as N. Bertuzzi, Contemporary Animal Advocacy in Italy; K. Aavik, The Animal Advocacy Movement in the Baltic States; P. Chen, Animal Welfare in Australia: Politics and Policy; and many more.

We especially would like to motivate early-career reseachers to publish in open-source journals such as Politics and Animals; see https://fewd.univie.ac.at/aa/journals/

The central geographical focus of this platform includes
Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Greece, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro, Romania, Slovenia, Serbia, and Turkey.

Please visit our Animal Advocacy country pages at https://fewd.univie.ac.at/aa/country/

Additionally, a list of important journals addressing Southeastern Europe as well as Central and Eastern Europe may be found at https://fewd.univie.ac.at/humanism/cee/journals/
